SlowArt Productions presents the group thematic exhibition, Art Biologic. The exhibition will be held at the Limner Gallery from May 3 24, 2008. This exhibition is open to all interpretations of the concept, Art Biologic. Included are all art forms relating to or gaining inspiration from the biological world. Landscape, flowers, vegetables, fruits and animals are all included. Figurative artwork of human beings is prohibited. All artist interpretations of these biological elements from the realist to the abstract and conceptual will be reviewed and considered.
ELIGIBILITY: ART BIOLOGIC is open to all artists, national and international, working in any media. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
IMAGE PRESENTATION: Artwork submitted may be represented by prints up to
8.5" x 11", by digital images on CD, by 35mm slides, or by email entry.
PRINTS: Prints of work may be up to 8.5" x 11" and may be digital (ink
jet, laser etc.) or photographic prints. Image list number, artist name and image details
(title, size, media) should be on the front or back of the print. If you want your
prints returned, be sure to follow the return of materials guidelines below.
SLIDES: Slides should be 35mm. On each slide write the image list number and
artists name, title of work, media and dimensions. Indicate top of work. Do not send
glass slides, glass slides are almost always crushed in the mail.
DIGITAL FILES: Digital image files may be submitted on CD, DVD or Zip
discs. Images should be readable on PC platform and should be in TIF or JPG format. No
files larger than 20MB please. Reference prints must be included. Reference prints
may be any size individual prints up to 8.5" x 11" (label as for prints above)
or may be a single sheet with multiple prints representing the images on the disc. If
submitting a single sheet , next to each image write the artist, title, media and
dimensions. If you submit digital files without reference prints, your files may not be
properly viewed.
INTERNET ENTRY: Since the quality of internet images is not as good, entry via the
internet is only recommended if mailing is difficult (international etc.). Digital files
via internet should be in JPG format, 72dpi and no larger than 8" in any dimension.
Save in PhotoShop as Image Option level 5 and Format Option baseline optimized.
Images may be posted to a web page and you may submit the URL (web address) of the page,
or you may send the images in a single zip file as an email attachment. Send the entry
form image list information as the email when you send the attachment or the URL. Refer to the image presentation page for details.
RETURN OF MATERIALS: A self-addressed-stamped-envelope (SASE) must be included with sufficient postage for the return of submission materials. Artists outside the US who cannot obtain US stamps may add return postage cost to the entry fee at a rate of $1.00US per ounce of mail. Materials submitted without SASE and return postage will be discarded.
NOTIFICATION: Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than March 31, 2008. Notification will be made by email and by mail with the return of materials using the SASE provided by the artist. Artists who do not include the SASE because they do not want their slide or print materials returned will receive notification only via email. Artists who provide no return envelope and no email will be notified by mail only if they are accepted to exhibit. Read the notification page for details of the notification policy.
FEES: There is a $30.00 entry fee for 1-4 slides, prints or digital files. If you wish to include more than 4, please include $5.00 for each additional. Details of artwork count as additional. Artists accepted to exhibit will not be charged additional fees of any kind. Please make check or money order payable to SlowArt Productions. Artists who wish to pay by credit card may do so at www.paypal.com. At the PayPal web site send your payment to the email address slowart@aol.com. Print the transaction page and include it with your entry.
AWARD: One artist from Art Biologic will be featured with a two page display in the upcoming Direct Art Volume #15, Fall 2008 issue. Direct Art is distributed to Borders and Barnes and Noble throughout the USA.
TERMS: All works in the show must be for sale. The gallery will take a 30 percent commission on all sales. Sale price is determined by artist.
DEADLINE: The Final postmarked deadline is February 29, 2008. Entries must be postmarked by this date.
