Born and raised on the American suburbs of northern New Jersey, Slowinski's work is distinctively American. With critical humor, he analyzes American cultural themes, influenced by the social and political issues of the moment. As the culture changes around him, the narrative element in his work changes to reflect it. A self taught painter, he avoids outside influence and works only from his
imagination. His work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in New York City and
the surrounding area on a regular basis since the early 1980s. He has adapted traditional
oil and tempera painting techniques to acrylic painting.
